In accordance with §10.1-659 of the Code of Virginia, DCR hosts Annual Coordination Meetings. These meetings convene representatives of state agencies and other key stakeholders responsible for advancing and coordinating the Commonwealth’s efforts and expenditures to increase flood resilience and preparedness.
DCR anticipates hosting the 2026 Annual Coordination Meeting virtually this fall.
In place of a standalone Annual Coordination Meeting, DCR hosted several events related to the development of the Virginia Flood Protection Master Plan in 2025. Meetings offered opportunities for flood resilience stakeholders across the Commonwealth to convene and coordinate flood resilience efforts.
DCR hosted the 2024 Annual Coordination Meeting on Thursday, September 26, 2024. The meeting included updates regarding several ongoing state-led efforts addressing flood resilience, including a presentation to kick-off development of the Virginia Flood Protection Master Plan (VFPMP). Presentations were followed by a VFPMP working session with invited stakeholders.

DCR hosted the first Virginia Flood Preparedness Coordination Meeting on June 28, 2023. The event featured presentations showcasing ongoing resilience initiatives impacting state, regional and local governance across Virginia.
