Douthat State Park

Douthat State Park offers excellent birding opportunities, with wooded trails, lakefront habitats and quiet hollows that attract a diverse mix of woodland songbirds, waterfowl and seasonal migrants.

Type of birds

Around Douthat Lake, visitors can spot bald eagles, ospreys, great blue herons and common mergansers, along with eastern phoebes and northern parulas that frequent the water's edge. In the surrounding woodlands, pileated woodpeckers, goldfinches, red-eyed and white-eyed vireos, tufted titmice, white-breasted nuthatches, eastern towhees and chipping sparrows are common companions along the trails.
