Location of Widewater State Park in Virginia

Where

Program Location: Visitor Center
Main Park Address: Widewater State Park, 101 Widewater State Park Road, Stafford, VA 22554.

When

Sept. 13, 2026. 11:00 a.m. - 12:30 p.m.

Have you ever wondered how long it takes for our trash to fully decompose?

This program will explore our trash and its effect on the environment. Find out how long it takes for common items like glass bottles and tin cans to eventually decompose. Learn about proper ways to dispose of trash and what materials are better alternatives for packaging.

After discussing the importance of a litter-free environment, join a ranger on trail clean-up. Gloves and trash grabbers are provided but in limited supply, so volunteers are encouraged to bring their own.

Volunteers will meet in the Visitor Center
