Rising Sun Kayak Tour

Join our Park Rangers as they discuss the history, ecology, and culture of the Widewater peninsula. Travel in a solo kayak or grab a partner and paddle in a tandem.

This program is limited to 10 participants, so registration is required. Children 6-12 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian in the watercraft, and children 13-17 may paddle solo but must be under the supervision of a parent/guardian. All paddlers are required to wear a properly fitted personal floatation device (PFD). Be sure to bring plenty of water and sunscreen, and dress to get wet!

Pre-registration and payment is required. Spots are limited and are first come, first serve. Payment is $25/person including equipment rental and parking. Call the Visitor Center at (540)288-1400 to sign up and pay over the phone, or pay in person prior to the program date.

Arrive at the Visitor Center at least 15 minutes prior to the start time to check-in and receive your parking pass before heading over to the Aquia Creek paddle launch.

In case of inclement weather cancellations, registrants will be notified the day prior via email and/or phone call. Participants can also call the Visitor Center about cancellation and payment details.

From guided hikes and plant identification to campfire building and backpacking basics, this special weekend helps Girl Scouts learn outdoor skills, build confidence and become advocates for the environment.
