Celebrate Virginia’s Free Fishing Days at Gordon Pond! No fishing license is required June 5–7, making this a perfect opportunity for families and first-time anglers to give fishing a try. Fishing rods, bait, and basic instruction will be provided at the pond while supplies last. Participants can enjoy a relaxing day outdoors while learning fishing basics and exploring one of Sweet Run State Park’s scenic pond areas.
Gordon Pond is hike-in access only, located approximately 1 mile from the Arnold Trailhead and 1.5 miles from the Sawmill Lane parking area. Trails include natural terrain, so wear appropriate footwear and bring water. Please note: No restrooms are available at the pond.
