Where

Program Location: Trailhead/Equestrian Parking Lot
Main Park Address: Powhatan State Park, 4616 Powhatan State Park Rd., Powhatan, VA 23139.

When

June 27, 2026. 9:00 a.m. - 10:00 a.m.

Summer brings in many far-flung 'visitors' all the way from the tropics of Central and South America. Walk together with a park ranger alongside meadow and forest to find out who is out and about! Candy-colored birds are filling up on juicy insects as they raise their young. Our winter migrants are away in their northern summer homes, while the Virginia's year-round residents are here feeding hungry teenagers.

What to Expect:
The walk will be up to one mile at a slow pace on mostly flat terrain. The trail can be muddy at times, so please dress accordingly. We recommend bringing water and binoculars if you have them. If not, the park has a few pairs to lend out.

Registration:
While registration is not required for this program, it is recommended. If you register, we will be able to contact you if the program is cancelled due to weather or other unforeseen circumstances.

You can also "Add to Calendar" via the icons below to set up an automatic reminder!
