Main Park Address: Kiptopeke State Park, 3540 Kiptopeke Dr., Cape Charles, VA 23310.

Sept. 26, 2026. 10:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m.

Want to play a part in the conservation and care of the park you love to visit? Join us for a day of environmental stewardship and outdoor exploration along the spectacular Chesapeake Bay.

Trash collection buckets and grabbers will be available for pickup at the Camp Store (located at the entrance to the beach and pier parking lot) from 10 am to 2 pm so volunteers can embark on a self-guided adventure of helping to keep our beaches, fishing pier, parking areas, and trails clean! When finished using the buckets and grabbers, please return them to the Camp Store and park staff will take care of emptying them.

Make sure you pick up your fun participation prize from the Camp Store before you go. It's a thank you on behalf of Kiptopeke State Park and the inhabitants of the ecosystems you are helping protect!

Parking and entrance into the park will be free all day. Volunteers should wear closed toe shoes, and children under the age of 18 must be accompanied by an adult in order to participate.

About National Public Lands Day

Virginia State Parks celebrates National Public Lands Day each September by inviting volunteers and visitors to take part in the largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands in the country. Join in preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the state’s public lands through a variety of hands-on activities, including trail maintenance, tree plantings, invasive species removal, litter clean-ups and educational programs on the importance of conservation.
