Take time today to visit the park and make it yours. Meander along an autumn trail or enjoy some September sunshine on the beach. Please also reflect on the importance of having outdoor recreation areas that are open and available to all people. One way to give back would be to join our invasive plant foray to reduce the growth of Autumn Olive: a shrub that challenges the very existence of other woodland species. Meet at the Cumberland Multi Use Parking lot for an introduction to the plant, and directions to a nearby location where you can help us maintain the park's natural beauty. Please bring your own work gloves and safety glasses. We will supply clippers and loppers for your use while you provide this appreciated service.

Tap water and restrooms are not available at the Cumberland Multi Use Trail Parking lot.

About National Public Lands Day

Virginia State Parks celebrates National Public Lands Day each September by inviting volunteers and visitors to take part in the largest single-day volunteer effort for public lands in the country. Join in preserving and enhancing the natural beauty of the state’s public lands through a variety of hands-on activities, including trail maintenance, tree plantings, invasive species removal, litter clean-ups and educational programs on the importance of conservation. Parking fees are waived at most Virginia State Parks for National Public Lands Day (excludes Grayson Highlands and the admission fee at Natural Bridge and Southwest Virginia Museum).
