Explore the remains of the Goodwin Gold Mine and learn how gold was discovered here by stepping in the stream, getting wet, and learning the techniques to pan for gold! This is a hands-on historical activity demonstration; everything found during panning must remain at the site except gold and pyrite.

Important: This one-hour adventure takes place on challenging terrain in a heavily wooded area including steep hills, shallow water crossing, and stepping up and over natural elements. Long pants, sunscreen, and bug spray are highly encouraged. Children under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. This experience is best suited for children 8 and over. Transportation is in a 15-passenger van.

Park at the Equestrian Parking Lot and meet in front of the Park Office 10 minutes before the program starts.

Pre-registration and payment upon pre-registration is required for this program and space is limited to 14 guests per tour. Payment is $3 per participant. No refunds are available. Please all the Park Office at 540-854-5503 to reserve your spot today!
