Aug. 7, 2026. 7:00 p.m. - 8:30 p.m.

As the heat of the day begins to fade, join a ranger for an evening walk along the Farmstead Loop to discover how plants, animals, and people adapt to summer's hottest conditions. Along the trail, learn how wildlife uses shade, shelter, and changing activity patterns to survive the summer heat. The hike will conclude at Mountain View, where participants can overlook the meadow at dusk and watch for the magical glow of fireflies emerging from the grasses below. This peaceful twilight experience offers a chance to slow down, observe the changing landscape, and appreciate the unique beauty of a summer evening. This 2 mile hike is not suitable for strollers and has moderately steep and rocky sections. Hiking shoes, water bottles and bug spray are recommended.
