This lecture explores how the Civil War transformed naval warfare forever. From ironclads and steam powered warships to the first military submarines, visitors will examine the rapid innovations that reshaped combat on the water during America’s deadliest conflict. Through famous vessels like USS Monitor, CSS Virginia, and the Hunley, the program examines how new technology, industrial power, and wartime necessity pushed naval warfare into the modern age.
