Join a park ranger for a guided nighttime adventure through the maritime forest as we search and listen for some of First Landing State Park’s most fascinating nocturnal residents: owls. During this slow-paced hike, participants will learn how to identify local owl species by sight and sound, explore how owls hunt and navigate after dark, and discover the important role these birds play in our ecosystem. Along the way, we’ll also highlight other nighttime wildlife activity and share tips for safely observing animals after sunset.

This program is family-friendly and suitable for most ages. The hike will cover approximately 1–1.5 miles over uneven terrain. Please wear closed-toe shoes, dress for the weather, and bring a flashlight with a red lens or cover to protect night vision.
