When
Oct. 10, 2026. 6:00 p.m. - 7:30 p.m.
Discover the frogs and toads of Loudoun County with Jenny Erickson of Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy. Begin with a 30-minute presentation introducing local reptiles and amphibians, their fall behaviors, and how scientists and community volunteers help monitor their populations. Jenny will share information about the national FrogWatch program, which tracks frog and toad calls, and Loudoun Wildlife Conservancy’s Reptiles and Amphibians iNaturalist Project, where anyone can help contribute valuable observations.
Following the presentation, we’ll take a short walk to Wortman Pond for a quiet listening experience. Participants will put their new identification skills to work as we listen for and identify species by their calls.
Come prepared to listen closely and discover who might be calling after dark! Meet at the Interpretive Center and bring a portable chair to use at the pond. The hike to the pond is a short 5 minute walk from the Interpretive Center.
