Main Park Address: New River Trail State Park, 116 Orphanage Dr., Max Meadows, VA 24360.
When
Nov. 6, 2026. 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
Join astronomers from the Echo Ridge Astronomical Society for a night of awe and wonder.
Roam around to take a look through their many kinds of telescopes and chat with the astronomers about the stars, constellations, and planets visible in the night sky. Corrie Delgado, ERAS's ambassador to NASA, will also share insights about the night sky. You may also bring your own telescope or binoculars to get assistance from experienced astronomers. Feel free to bring comfortable chairs or blankets to lean back and enjoy an expansive view of the sky.
To preserve the night vision of our visitors and wildlife, please use minimal lighting when entering and leaving the parking lot, and only use flashlights with red-colored light.
Meeting place: The Discovery Center down in the village.
Admission to the program is free. VA State Park parking fees still apply.
This program is weather dependent. Please check this event listing on the New River Trail website for cancellations.
