Spider Spotting

Location of Holliday Lake State Park in Virginia

Where

Program Location: Campfire Circle
Main Park Address: Holliday Lake State Park, 2759 State Park Rd., Appomattox, VA 24522.

When

Oct. 30, 2026. 6:00 p.m. - 7:00 p.m.

We go searching in the dark for spiders where they wait to prey on insects. We shine a spotlight on them and watch their incredible eyes shine back. First meet us at the Campfire Circle to learn about which spider species are common in our area, their role in the ecosystem, and what makes them unique. Then, join us on a less-than-one-mile walk investigating spider hot spots. We will not be handling any spiders. Please wear good walking shoes, bring a flashlight, and consider applying bug repellent.
