CLARKSVILLE, Va. – Occoneechee State Park is excited to announce the opening of Breaking Point Disc Golf Course. The 18‑hole course is the third disc golf course in the Virginia State Parks system.
It was designed by professional disc golfer Matt Bell and is expected to become one of the top disc golf courses on the East Coast, thanks to the park’s lakefront location and amenities.
Visitors can pair their disc golf experience with a cabin stay, full-service campground, splash pad, extensive trails and access to Virginia’s largest lake, John H. Kerr Reservoir, better known as Buggs Island Lake.
Breaking Point was made possible through exceptional community support. The project was funded by the Friends of Occoneechee State Park, with construction assistance provided by park rangers. In addition, generous donations from Microsoft and Baker Construction supplied the concrete for the course’s tee boxes.
“This project reflects extraordinary generosity and collaboration,” said Park Manager Brandon Brown. “We’re thrilled to offer another high-quality outdoor experience that supports tourism, recreation and the natural beauty of the region.”
Visitors can access Breaking Point at the Panhandle Multi-use Trailhead. Standard parking fees apply. For more information, please go to https://www.dcr.virginia.gov/state-parks/occoneechee.
